Rabbi/Cantor Bronwen Mullin (she/her) is the co-founder of The Rabbinic Arts Company. She serves as the cantor of Congregation Beth Shalom in Wilmington, Del., and as a national faculty member of SVARA: A Traditionally Radical Yeshiva. She is the co-founder of Meta-Phys Ed with performance artist/director Jesse Freedman. She received rabbinic ordination and a master’s degree in midrash from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2017; and a bachelor’s degree in theater and religious studies from Sarah Lawrence College in 2006.
Selected works and works-in-progress include: “Chalom: A Dream Opera” (Hebrew/Aramaic, International Fringe Festival/FringeNYC 2012); “Bat Yiftach: A Tragic Punk Opera” (English/Hebrew, The Kreischer Mansion 2016), “Make Me Out of Clay” (composer, Cannonball Festival Philadelphia 2022, created and choreographed by Ella-Gabe Mason); and “Ca’asi Revaya: Nigunim for a Raging Heart” (will keep you posted). She was an inaugural fellow of the Hadar Rising Song Institute and the SVARA Teaching Kollel, and a recipient of the JTS Innovation and Myers Family Grants. Judaism is Rabbi Bronwen’s favorite art form, and she is honored to practice it.
