Simcha Raphael

Reb Simcha Paull Raphael, Ph.D. is the founding director of the DA’AT Institute for Death Awareness, Advocacy and Training. Ordained by Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi as a rabbinic pastor, he was a spiritual director at RRC from 1999 to 2009, and served as adjunct professor in the Departments of Religion at LaSalle University and Temple University, and in the Aleph Ordination Program. He is on faculty in the One Spirit Alliance Art of Dying Thanatology program and is a member of the Rabbis Without Borders Network. He has authored seven books on death and Judaism, including the groundbreaking book Jewish Views of the Afterlife, and the recently published, Musings with the Angel of Death: Poems of Love, Life and Longing.
